Markets eye Fed Chief Ben Bernanke’s speech on Friday
The S&P 500 index surged 3.4 per cent to 1,162.35, with financials jumping 3.2 per cent. The Dow Jones Industrial average climbed 3 per cent to 11,176.76 and the Nasdaq composite index gained 4.29 per cent to 2,446.06.
