Julius Baer appoints Edmond Carton as new Head Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean.

Swiss private banking group Julius Baer today announced that it has appointed Edmond Carton as new Head Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean effective today. Edmond Carton will report directly to Rémy Bersier, CEO Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East, Africa and European Francophone markets.

Edmond Carton joins Julius Baer from Credit Suisse where he has been Head of the UHNWI Segment for Middle East, India and Turkey. He has many years of experience in advising sophisticated private clients from this region. Amongst others, Edmond Carton previously acted as Group Head Middle East & North Africa at HSBC Private Bank, member of the Board of HSBC Bank Middle East and Global Head of Middle East Private Banking at JP Morgan.

Olivier Meystre has been Head Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean since September 2008. In addition, he built up the Bank's Cairo office as Head of Julius Baer Advisory S.A.E. from September 2008 to October 2010. In these two functions, he played a pivotal role in positioning Julius Baer as a leader in the region's wealth management industry. Olivier Meystre will remain with Julius Baer as Senior Advisor to Rémy Bersier.
