Malayan Banking rights issue discount in line with forecasts

Kuala Lumpur-based Malayan Banking (Maybank) fixed the issue price of its MYR 6 billion ($1.6 billion) rights offering in line with its previous suggestions of a 30-40 per cent discount. The relatively early news of the price has taken the market by surprise. With shares continuing to fall, the issue could become significantly less attractive by the time of the offer.
