Oman Islamic Banking and Finance Conference underway

The two-day Oman Islamic Banking and Finance Conference opened at Grand Hyyat Muscat on 5 June. Opening the conference, Hamood bin Sangour al-Zadjali, Executive President of the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), delivered a speech in which he said that Islamic finance aims at helping meet the requirements needed by national economic sectors, indicating that there is no conflict between Islamic finance and finance according to the traditional economic rules, both aim at maintaining the resources bestowed by Allah by utilising them in productive projects serving the national economy ‘and this is the essence of Shari’ah-based Islamic banking’.
