Mergermarket: Forex angst to create emerging market M&A slump

Currency depreciation in emerging markets is set to put M&A on the backburner including in several countries in EMEA, according to bankers and analysts. The situation has been exacerbated by the Federal Reserve’s tapering policy as well as political instability in countries such as Ukraine. The 12-year low on Friday, 24 January, of the Argentine peso caused the latest anxiety after it dived 13 per cent in two days, say experts.
