Qatar’s banking sector ‘well-capitalised and profitable’ says IMF

In its Qatar—2014 Article IV Consultation Concluding Statement of the IMF Mission, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) noted that, “Commercial banks’ Tier 1 capital stood at 15 per cent of risk-weighted assets at end-2013 and NPLs remain below two per cent despite their recent slight increase. The banking system remains highly profitable with a return on assets at two per cent.
