On the carpet in Sharjah
Didn’t we have a lovely time the day we went to Sharjah? The UAE-based press turned up mob-handed for the inauguration of Sharjah Islamic Bank’s (SIB) imposing new headquarters building on the Khan Corniche this week. I have to say it is a very pleasant location and it is indeed an attractive building although I was somewhat confused by the fully grown palm tree in an enclosed atrium roughly half way up. But that is by the by – in fact I would presume it to be the hall of the entire upper part of the building which is designated as luxury residential accommodation.
