I’m always dubious when someone in Dubai suggests I do something ‘for my convenience’. The most recent of these forays was being persuaded to sign a direct debate mandate for my Du bill, only to have my card declined every single month so that I would have to trek down to their office and pay the old fashioned way. Apparently, the mandate only works for credit cards, leading me to ask what the point of a direct debit mandate is.
