When I was a younger journalist, we described the conference season as the ‘rubber chicken’ circuit. There was no particular secret why… it was simply a comment regarding the quality of the food and the unvarying menu presented. It didn’t seem to matter where you were in the world or what the subject matter of the event was. Lunch was served and, yet again, it would be chicken and, yet again, it would have the rubbery consistency of a Goodyear tyre!
